ALA Community Values

Our school recognizes our responsibility to create a diverse environment that supports and celebrates each individual in our school community. We seek to raise awareness, promote critical thinking, and encourage responsible action around issues of diversity and citizenship by integrating them into the curriculum, facilitating faculty training, and incorporating events throughout the school year.

We value:

  • A diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and families, creating a rich environment for learning together;
  • Both our commonalities and our differences in race, religion, ethnicity, socio-economic level, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, family structure, learning and physical abilities, and age;
  • A curriculum that reflects these differences.
  • Raising awareness of our local and global community by cultivating responsible citizenship.

Community Service

We feel it is critical to help teach students to become caring citizens through educational experiences embedded in our curriculum and through hands-on experiences. This allows our students to realize how meaningful community service can be and experience the wonderful rewards of helping others.

Throughout the year, students have opportunities to become involved in our school community and in the community at large. Every December, our school’s Holiday Helping Hands program collects pet supplies to help local shelter animals. We improved our STEM skills by partnering with UCF to build mobility cars for children with motor disabilities.  Our students gain so much by working together, with others and helping their community.
